Could this idea help us master deep space travel?

Now we are probably a few hundred years away from this technology, but my idea is if we could create and sustain a mobile wormhole, we could transfer energy to a large spacecraft (probably more like a celestial base), and you could put ten or twenty thousand people on these crafts and they could travel through space.
