What do you think happens in the afterlife?

I'm was watching this show on the science channel (through the wormhole) and it was talking about the afterlife.I want to know what is your theory on what happens after death?If you have one that is, I personally don't believe in an afterlife like the ones religious people believe in (No offense religious people hope I didn't offend anyone) I don't believe in a heaven or hell but at the same time I don't believe the thing that makes us conscious beings just disappears either.They say that our physical being is made up of elements found in the universe who says that the thing that makes us conscious isn't made up the same way.What if after death that energy in us or what ever it is the "soul" I say that because I don't know what else to call it doesn't simply just go back to where it came from which is the universe?I don't know that's just something I just came up with on the spot so forgive me if there are holes in my stupid theory.Anyway what do you think what happens after death?
